Who maintains this site
Petrichor Codex is maintained by Petrichor Codex, an independent editorial project run by a single maintainer (‘CT’, Site Maintainer). It is a fan resource and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Gearbox Software or 2K, and nobody here has access to the game's internal data.
The site currently documents 20 survivors, 220 items and equipment, 20 artifacts and 31 environments. Those counts are generated from the same data files the pages render, so they cannot drift apart from the pages themselves.
How we verify information
- Developer material first. Patch notes, launch announcements, developer diaries and store listings are treated as authoritative. Everything taken from them is labelled as confirmed by official sources.
- Cross-checking elsewhere. For unpublished internal mechanics, data is established by comparing independent written guides and recorded gameplay runs. Findings that rest on those sources are labelled as reported by players rather than confirmed by official sources.
- Saying what is open. Pages carry an “open questions” section when a detail is still being collected, so a gap is visible instead of being papered over with a guess.
Values that shift between patches (stacking maths, spawn weights, drop tables) are the most fragile kind of claim, so those get re-checked against fresh sources rather than copied forward.
Corrections and contact
If something on this site is wrong, out of step with the current patch, or missing a source, tell us and it gets fixed. Email hi@riskofrain2.online with the page URL and what you saw, and include a screenshot or clip where you can.
You can also read how the site handles personal data in the privacy notice, or the terms of use for the text and media on this site.
Where this site stands
This is an independent editorial fan resource and is not affiliated with Gearbox or 2K. Official customer support and patch schedules remain exclusively under the control of the game publishers; in-game bugs should be submitted through official developer channels.
Content is published directly from primary documentation and verified in-game mechanics. When emerging community findings are being corroborated, specific fields are explicitly labelled with their player-reported status so readers always know the exact verification level of each datum.
Editorial boundaries
- No cheats, trainers, save editors or exploits.
- No item, account, key or boosting sales of any kind.
- No fabricated numbers presented as measured values.
- No claim of an official relationship with the game or its rights holders.
If a page on this site ever looks like it breaks one of those rules, that is a mistake worth reporting rather than a policy, and it will be corrected or removed.
How the pages are built
Pages are generated from structured data files rather than hand-typed, so a count on a hub page and the rows on the page it links to come from one source and cannot disagree. Anything derived rather than stated is labelled as derived: the loadout analysis on survivor pages is computed from the skill table above it, and the site says so rather than dressing it up as expert judgement.
The site is also built to stay readable on a weak connection. Body text uses the fonts already on your device rather than downloading a webfont, images are served in a modern format at the size they are displayed, and no page runs continuous animation in the background.
Independence and funding
