What it is

A Curio: a special piece of equipment that does NOT occupy your normal equipment slot.

Starting state

Starts with a single ability that can be used once per stage.

How it grows

Extra Pages are earned by interacting with Hallowed Concepts content; each Page grants a new ability.

Pages you can pick up

  • Dark Alchemy

    Confirmed by official sources

Target a high-tier item and destroy it — it is downgraded to a lower tier but duplicated.

  • Fanatic Summons

    Confirmed by official sources

Summons a friendly Lynx Pup. Stacking this turns it into an army of them.

  • Warp Gates

    Confirmed by official sources

Creates warp gates. Named as a Page power in the official Trials dev diary.

  • Reincarnation

    Reported by players

Named as a Page in community documentation that refers to it while explaining which Pages a run needs. Its specific effect has not been documented here yet, so this entry carries the name and nothing beyond it.

The developer has confirmed the Curio and named these powers while holding back the rest of the set, so expect more entries here as they surface in runs.

Trials of N'kuhana

The reliable source of Pages during a run.

Hexes

The other half of the bargain: pain now, Hallowed Items later.

Why a separate slot changes the maths

Equipment in Risk of Rain 2 is a single slot you trade into: taking one piece means giving up the piece you were carrying. That constraint is what makes equipment a real decision. The Curio deliberately steps outside it — because the N'Tormat does not occupy the equipment slot, every ability it offers is value added on top of a build that is already complete rather than a swap against it.

The price is pacing instead of power. A piece of equipment answers a cooldown; a Page answers a stage. You get a fixed number of uses between one stage and the next, so the interesting question is not whether the ability is strong — it is where in the stage you spend it, and whether you hold it for the boss.

Planning around Pages

  • Route to the gong early. A trial is the dependable source of a Page, so a stage where you find one is worth detouring for while the timer is generous.
  • Pick powers that cover a gap. Dark Alchemy converts a high-tier item you do not want into a lower-tier one you do; Fanatic Summons adds bodies to your side. Neither is a default answer, which is exactly why the choice rewards knowing your build.
  • Remember Dream Crucible. It can be consumed in place of a cooldown or a consumed item once per stage, and it works with Pages — so the item quietly sets how many times per stage you get to use the Curio.

The routing advice above is our own framing of the mechanic, not developer guidance.

Frequently asked

Does the N'Tormat use an equipment slot?
No. The N'Tormat is a Curio, a piece of special equipment that does not occupy your normal equipment slot.
How do you get more N'Tormat Pages?
Each trial in the Trials of N’kuhana awards one Page, and Pages are also tied to other Hallowed Concepts content you interact with during a run.
How often can a Page power be used?
The N'Tormat starts with a single ability usable once per stage. Dream Crucible can consume itself in place of a cooldown or a consumed item once per stage, which lets you use a Page more than once.
Does the N'Tormat replace my equipment?
No. Because the Curio sits outside the equipment slot, you keep whatever equipment you are already carrying. The trade-off is that its abilities are rationed by stage rather than by cooldown.
